    Hi everyone,
I’a a bit confused about DC circuit breakers and need some clarification. What’s the difference between a 1-pole and 2-pole DC circuit breaker?

For connecting the PV panels,  is it  enough if I just put a breaker on the positive line, or do I need to install  breakers on both the positive and negative lines?

Both 1-pole  and 2-pole DC circuit breakers can disconnect the circuit, so there’s no fundamental difference in function. Once one conductor is cut, the circuit is open. However, in practice, 2P breakers are more commonly used in the solar market. You can also use a 1P breaker, but keep in mind that 1P models are usually available only in smaller ratings.

For PV panel connections, putting a breaker on just the positive line is generally enough to interrupt the circuit. Still, many installers prefer using 2P breakers to disconnect both positive and negative lines at the same time for added safety and convenience.
